MIRACLE PARK: Ankeny Recieves Park Funding | Community Spirit
by Jesse Wright
Community members have joined together to support children with special needs in Iowa.
On Friday afternoon, the Ankeny Community Foundation received a $20,000 check by the Ankeny Monsanto site. The donation was to help fund the construction of Miracle Park, a playground and little league program to support 5,000 special-needs children throughout Iowa, as part of the Monsanto Fund’s site grant initiative.
“Parks and Rec provides special events, clean trails and programs for people of all ages and abilities,” said Ryan Penning, recreation supervisor for the city of Ankeny. “That’s really why this project came about—to serve the community of kids with special needs.”
