GENEROUS SUPPORT: More Food Available To Those In Need | News
The Des Moines Area Religious Council announced they will be able to increase the food available to families and individuals.
They say due to the generous outpouring of support from the community this year they will be able to offer 340,000 more emergency meals to the Greater Des Moines area.
That means the normal 3-day supply of food they usually give out to families and individuals will increase to a 4-day supply.
“Through the amazing generosity and contributions of so many congregations, individuals, businesses, civic groups, and other organizations,” said Executive Director Sarai Rice, “we are confident that we can sustain adding one more days’ worth of meals to our food boxes.”
Just a year ago, DMARC had to reduce the number of food items they could give to a family because of a decrease in donations.
They hope they will be able to continue helping families in need even if we start to see drought-related food price increases in the coming months.
