Dennis Hoefle, Prairie Ridge Middle School social studies teacher and Ankeny varsity tennis coach was announced to have passed away on Thursday, December 29. Hoefle had suffered a sudden brain aneurism the day before that was determined to be the cause of death.

Ankeny Fire Department’s Toy Drive to Give 900 Children Toys this Year

The Ankeny Fire Department held its annual toy drive for U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots on Sunday, December 11. Metro residents filled two vehicles – a fire engine and an ambulance – with toys, games, and three new bicycles.

The toys will now be sorted into groups and Marine Corps will try to fulfill each wish list.

“Because of the generosity of those in our community, over 900 kids will have a new toy under the tree this holiday season,” said Firefighter and retired Marine Mark Amann.
